First Snow!

And so, Winter starts. I guess we can't complain. Autumn was great and lasted longer than normal. I'll be looking forward to a short Winter. -GS-

In Print!

My son, Eric, had a story printed in the most recent issue of Fine Lines. First time in print! -GS-

First Camera

Well, first adjustable camera. My real first camera was a Kodak Hawkeye box camera like most kids that grew up in that era.

When I was in the 8th grade, my dad Gave me his old Argus C3. It was about as basic as they come, not much more than a light tight box with an adjustable shutter and aperture. No meter. In between each shot you had to wind the film and cock the shutter. Still affectionately referred to as "the brick" by those who recognize it.

This one no longer works. The controls are frozen in place by lubricant that hardened years ago. Too bad. It might have been fun to run a roll of film through it.

It was basic, but it was everything a kid needed to learn about photography. Thanks Dad.
